With Kirtland’s Animation & Game Design associate in
applied science degree, just about anyone, regardless of their initial
artistic ability, can make their way into the rapidly expanded computer
animation and game design industry.

Room to grow
With average hourly wages of $40.66 and annual income around $80,000,
the software design and animation field is expected to offer a widening
variety of lucrative job opportunities for years to come. Since 1990,
the software publishing industry has more than doubled and is expected
to grow by another 32 percent from 2006-2016. The number of employed
multi-media artists and animators is likewise expected to increase by 32

an associate’s degree, you’re in luck. With one of the most respected
artistic programs in northern Michigan, Kirtland Community College also
boasts a strong transfer program with the College of Creative Studies in
Detroit and the Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, the
state’s top artistic institutions. In fact, Kirtland graduates have
become a sought-after commodity at CCS and Kendall, earning a total of
about $150,000 in scholarships each year. In recent years, Kirtland
graduates have also earned scholarships to continue their education and
training at CCS and Kendall.
As
Kirtland graduates move on to further training, they enter those
programs better prepared, with more advanced portfolios than many of
their colleagues who have already graduated from bachelor’s degree
programs.
