Kirtland academy graduates 29th class Oct. 30

ROSCOMMON – The Kirtland Regional Police Academy will honor its 29th graduating class during ceremonies at the Kirtland Center for the Performing Arts on Kirtland Community College’s main campus near Roscommon on Friday, Oct. 30. 

The graduation ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m., with a reception following in the college’s Student Center.

Members of the KRPA’s 29th graduating class include: Brandon Barkley of Harrison, Mike Bingham of Boyne City, Robert Clink of Lincoln, Joseph Lacey of St. Helen, Lance Mienk of Gladwin, Ryan Nau of Beaverton, Kevin Nugent of Roscommon, Nick Oster of Houghton Lake, Jonathan Ruegg of St. Ignace, Thomas Swafford of Richland, Tyler Swiss of Harbor Springs, Justin Thompson of Houghton Lake, Keith Tousciuk of West Branch, Cody Wheat of Charlevoix, Kip Williams of Mt. Pleasant, Jacob Wingate of Tustin and James Wren of Mt. Pleasant.

The featured guest speaker will be Chief of Police Kim Miller of the Alpena Police Department. Academy director Jerry Boerema and Kirtland president Dr. Thomas Quinn will also address the graduates.

Academy coordinator Thomas Grace and KRPA faculty members will present special awards in recognition of outstanding achievement. Representatives of the KCC Board of Trustees and the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) will also be on hand to congratulate the graduates.

About 3,200 students annually attend a variety of certificate and two-year degree programs at Kirtland’s three locations – its main campus near Roscommon, the Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) in Gaylord and in West Branch – with the college’s service area including all or parts of Crawford, Oscoda, Ogemaw, Roscommon, Otsego, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Gladwin and Alcona counties, and the surrounding areas.
