ROSCOMMON – Five
players on the Kirtland’s men’s basketball team were in double digits by
the end of their 101-75 romp over Alpena Community College on the
Firebirds’ home court Saturday, Jan. 22.
Lauren Oberle of Harrison led the Firebirds in scoring with 20 points in
one of his best games ever. Bernard Daniels, a force to be reckoned with,
remained consistent for the Firebirds, contributing 16 points.
DeMarvelous Carter also had a great game and added 13 points, while David
Allison and Frank Washington contributed 12 each as the Firebirds rolled
over their northern rivals.
The win moves the Firebirds to 4-2 in the Eastern Conference (14-6
overall), keeping them in the third-place slot, although theirs was one of
the few EC games to be played over the weekend as the weather kept most
teams from getting together.
The Lumberjacks dropped their conference record to 2-4 (5-10 overall).
The Firebirds continue to play on their home court for now, at the CRAF
Center in Roscommon. On Wednesday, Jan. 26, they host Macomb Community
College and on Saturday, Jan. 29, they’ll host Wayne County Community
College. Game time for the Firebirds is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m.
Saturday. Both games are preceded by Lady Firebirds’ games. |
