Kirtland’s men’s team trounces Macomb
|
ROSCOMMON – It looked as if the
Monarchs of Macomb Community College were going to put some pressure on
the Kirtland Firebirds men’s team at the opening of their Wednesday, Jan.
26, matchup, but by the end of the first half of Kirtland’s 85-50 win, the
Firebirds had opened the gap and never looked back.
Kirtland freshman DeMarvelous Carter led the Firebirds in scoring with 18
points, followed by Bernard Daniels with 16, Frank Washington with 12 and
Sherman Yarbrough with 11.
The win kept the Firebirds in third place in the MCCAA Eastern Conference
standings with a 5-2 conference record (15-6 overall) and eight games left
on the schedule.
The Firebirds host Wayne County Community College on Saturday, Jan. 29, at
the CRAF Center in Roscommon, with a 3 p.m. tip-off time, then take to the
road to play Oakland Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
They return to the CRAF Center for a string of three home games on Feb. 5,
