Kirtland Firebirds take road loss in Alpena
|
ROSCOMMON – Kirtland’s Bernard
Daniels hit eight three-point shots toward a team-high 30 points during
Saturday’s men’s basketball game against the Alpena Community College
Lumberjacks, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Firebirds from losing this
late-season road game, 95-87.
Center Craig Ash contributed 16 points and 15 rebounds to Kirtland’s
effort. David Allison and Mike Dunlop added 10 points apiece; DeMarvelous
Carter and Victor Hamilton each scored 8 points; and Lauren Oberle
connected for 5 points.
The loss dropped Kirtland to 7-7 in the Michigan Community College
Athletic Association’s Eastern Conference (17-11 overall), and boosted
Alpena to 4-9 (7-16 overall).
The Firebirds finish their conference schedule on the road Tuesday, Feb.
22, at Macomb CC (1-12) in Warren. The Firebirds will likely finish fourth
in the conference, which has been dominated this year by an undefeated
Mott CC team (14-0). Second and third place in the conference will be
decided Tuesday, when Henry Ford CC takes on Wayne County CC – both teams
are currently 8-5.
The Firebirds will resume play when they host their own Regional
tournament game against Vincennes on Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in the
CRAF Center in Roscommon. |
