Kirtland Lady Firebirds give middle school a workout
|
| ROSCOMMON – Members of the Kirtland
Lady Firebirds basketball team took some time out to promote a healthy
lifestyle to students in the Houghton Lake Middle School during the
Houghton Lake school system’s Health and Fitness Week, March 21-25.
Sponsored by MidMichigan Health Park of Houghton Lake, the program is
designed to bring health and fitness to the forefront of students’ minds
by hosting presenters and special exercises. On Tuesday, March 22, the
Lady Firebirds, led by coach Teresa Stuck, talked to students in the
middle school gym classes about their formula for staying in shape year
round, and what it takes to play sports at the collegiate level. They then
played some lively five-on-five basketball games with the students and
practiced shooting skills. Pictured is eighth-grade student Kameron
Shannon maneuvering to the basket past Firebird Emily Bruner of Mio.
Shannon was one of the few to get a shot on the Lady Firebirds. |
